Trimdon Parish held its first Scarecrow Competition 1st – 12 June 2016, with prizes for the best three entries.

The Parish Council said;
“Thank you again to everyone who has supported our first Scarecrow Competition – to all of the entrants and to people who have supported it and helped to publicise it. And a special thanks to Councillor Mike Dixon who spent the afternoon judging in this awful weather. He was so impressed by the ingenuity and creativity of the entries which made his job of picking the three prize winners very difficult.
“Well done to all our winners – and commiserations to those who just missed out. It’s been a great success and hopefully we can repeat it next year”

The results are as follows:

1st Prize – Trimdon Community Infant and Nursery School with their theme ‘Space: The Final Frontier’
2nd Prize – Mayfield Stables, Trimdon Grange with ‘Toy Story’
3rd prize – Harwood Court, Trimdon Grange with ‘Is this Shotton’

The following entries didn’t win a prize but were highly commended:

14 Church Road, Trimdon Village
7 Front Street South, Trimdon Village
34 Northside Buildings, Trimdon Village
7 Park Road, Trimdon Colliery
